MONTHLY WRITERS' MIXERS

Writers' Mixers happen the first Saturday of each month, at 5pm.  The events are free and do not require a reservation.

December 3, 2011, 5pm

Featuring Cheri Lasota,

author of Artemis Rising

This month, we'll welcome Portlander Cheri Lasota, author of the young adult historical fantasy Artemis Rising.  Cheri signed on with Vancouver publisher SpireHouse Books for Artemis Rising, and a couple of months ago, along with her publisher, Cheri brought the e-card edition of her e-book to us here at Cover to Cover Books.  We were thrilled with the opportunity to sell e-books here in the bookstore, and invited Cheri to present at one of our writers mixers.

Along with writing fiction, Cheri has a long history in the publishing industry as an editor, editing screenplays, fiction, non-fiction and short stories for publication.  Cheri will share her experiences in the industry, and focus on the e-card experiment, as well as read an excerpt of her book.

Learn more about Cheri at her blog, or follow her on Twitter at @CheriLasota.

POETRY OPEN MICROPHONES

Every second Thursday after closing time, come on out to the Poetry Open Microphone.  Featured poets change eachmonth, but there's always an open mic for local poets.  Come meet, greet, read and listen! Always all ages, always uncensored.

Poetry Open Microphone

Hosted by Chris Luna and Toni Partington

Come and share your favorite works by yourself, friends, or favorite poets.

December's open microphone is the book launch of VoiceCatcher 6, featuring contributing authors Alice Hardesty, Deb Scott, Leah Stenson, Meredith Stewart, Dawn Thompson, and April Bullard.

VoiceCatcher 6 co-editor and Printed Matter Vancouver co-founder Toni Partington will introduce readings by the women featured in the new anthology.  The sixth anthology in six years, VoiceCatcher is proud to announce the publication of new work by 45 authors and 25 artists from the Portland/Vancouver area.  VoiceCatcher 6 captures the diverse voices of award winners, emerging writers, and beginners through a rich selection of poetry, prose, and the visual arts.

Join us for an evening of inspiring poetry and camaraderie.
